In the summertime when the weather is high...

Two photos again today: one of people frolicking in the fountain in Piccadilly Gardens and the other of a spilt box of matches lying on the pavement which I thought looked quite good in a high contrast red/black/white...

Accidents will happen

Searching for a photo for today (less time than anticipated as I spent five hours crawling along the motorway between Bristol and Manchester) but the most interesting one I got turned out to be one of the floor I took by accident...

I promise something more exciting (and intentional) tomorrow.

Knockin' on Heaven's Door

Another oddity sitting in the middle of the pavement on Cromwell Rd this morning. Also, another of the Bristol Zoo Gorillas...

City to city

Back in Bristol today after an unexpectedly long weekend at home. This truly is a city of street art and individuality...

Song to the Moon

Spent a lovely day in Glyndebourne seeing Rusalka and not quite getting rained on. As a change from last year, I decided not to take my SLR so relied on my phone camera instead and here are a couple of the results.

Kaleidoscope Eyes

Stuck in traffic on the way to work this morning and saw this on the metal gratings of an optician. I'm still amazed by how much street art there is in Bristol, even on mundane things like shop barriers. Apologies for the lamp-post but you have very little choice about where you get stuck at a traffic light (I wasn't the one driving by the way).

A chair is still a chair...

A plethora of photo opportunities today, so three pictures instead of the usual one...

Going to the zoo...

Took a great trip to Bristol Zoo today, despite the rain, and took the oppourtunity to bag three more of the Gorillas around the city:

Goodnight, Irene

Another two-picture day today. It's lovely weather (here's hoping it sticks for the office BBQ tomorrow...) and I took a wander down to Sainsbury's to get some bread. Bristol Zoo is celebrating it's 175th birthday with giant painted gorillas dotted around Bristol and the Bristol Rovers one is sitting by the arches on Gloucester Rd.

Just the Imposter

While out looking for today's photo I came across the friendliest cat sitting on a garden wall. She (he?) looked remarkably like Jimmy (pictured just over a week ago) who is my cat at home, though a lot thinner!

The Bells of St Clements

I had fun playing with the colour swap effects in Vignette while waiting for the others to finish their shopping. I know this goes a little beyond the one picture a day, but it is technically all the same photograph...

The last one is supposedly 'London' style, red, white and black highlight.

A clue in the crossword

Took a route to Picadilly Station in Manchester which includes part of my normal walk to university. A passage which is normally covered in graffiti has been repainted but the doodles are slowly and surely coming back again. A couple of the more interesting examples here.

Incidentally, I photographed this passage previously and pictures are on my other blog sometime last year: http://fwilsonphotography.blogspot.com/2010/11/railway-arch-graffiti.html

Mice, mice baby

So a slight bastardisation of the normal song lyric/title for today's picture, but it fits well. I'm back in Manchester this weekend so I tried to take some pictures of my pet mice, Widget and Elmo. Sadly, most of what I ended up with were blurred pictures of Elmo's bum as she ran away from me, but I did manage to get this nice one of Widget, who managed to sit still for a bit longer...

How much is that doggy in the window?

Stopped at the butchers on the way home and this little westie was looking very forlorn in the window of the wool shop next door....

Round and round the garden, like a teddy bear

Ok, so granted this is not the most exciting photograph in the world, but it is a hedge shaped like a teddy bear, which I thought too good to pass up....

Monday 4 July 2011

Underground, Overground

Wombleing Free. Alright, so I didn't actually go anywhere near Wimbledon, but I did see plenty of the Underground on my way back to Bristol from doing my exhibition in Cambridge (thanks to everyone who came).  I also got told off for trying to take a picture inside Paddington. Apparently the only part of the station you're allowed to photograph is Platform 1, though I'm not sure I understand the logic behind this....

Moonshine Washing Line

I was still around Grantchester for the exhibition today. A beautifully quaint little village in the south-east.

Friday 1 July 2011

In an English Country Garden

Back home in Cambridgeshire for my exhibition this weekend (Grantchester Village Hall, 10am - 5pm this weekend). Once I'd finished setting up I took the oppourtunity to wander around Grantchester and snap some of the beautiful flowers in bloom.
